Amazing ME Track Five
The content of Track Five covers:
1. Promoting positive play by taking turns
Suzy helps Ted and Clown negotiate and co-operate. Viewers are invited
to participate in a song "your turn, my turn, your turn, mine"
which is a fun way of learning about taking turns.
2. Identifying a trusted adult
Suzy invites viewers to call out to a trusted adult. She gives lots
of ideas for who is someone they trust.
3. Sharing secrets is good
Suzy talks about the need to tell secrets by sharing a story which
reinforces that secrets are to be shared.
4. Reinforcing feelings
Suzy introduces the fact that Ted and Clown have had a fight and
that Clown hurt Ted and invites viewers to help sort it out.
Suzy shares some pictures inviting viewers to help her see "what
might happen next!"
Possible learning experiences to support
Amazing ME - Track Five
- Find songs, stories and books about helping others, for example,
Alfie lends a hand, Dogger, written by Shirley Hughes.
- Organise games that encourage turn taking, for example, ball
games, card games and board games.
- Helping children resolve conflict.
- Modelling appropriate language and behaviour.
- Set up role plays and dramatic play situations where you act
out how you feel, for example, stamping your foot when you are
angry, smiling and laughing when you are happy.
- Have discussions about secrets.
- Set up large and small group projects to encourage co-operation,
for example, group collage.
- Reinforce positive behaviours.
- Encourage children to help each other.
- Teach children mediation skills.
- Introduce specific ways to take turns, egg timer, alarm clocks,
counting, singing.
- Talk about the stories in Amazing ME,
Muddy Manu, Fran's Day and Amazing Sam.
You will be able to think of more ideas for learning experiences
