Amazing ME Track Two
The content of Track Two covers:
1. Learning rules to help keep themselves safe
Suzy invites viewer to join in with songs like the "stop, think
and act" song, which teaches children a great problem solving
technique as well as fun. Suzy asks children direct questions about
"what would you do?" She sets the scene for children to
he keep themselves safe.
2. Encouraging children to ask for help from adults
Suzy invites the child viewer to think about whom would they call
if they needed help. She reinforces the "emergency" idea
for ill and uses the "what if' idea to practice problem solving.
Suzy invites viewers to practise calling for help. Not just to
mum or dad but a variety of people, supporting the idea that gaining
help from trusted adults is a good thing to do.
3. Learning own phone number, address, and emergency number

Suzy practises her phone number and address and viewers are invited
to learn theirs too.
Possible learning experiences to support
Amazing ME - Track Two
- Discuss safety issues around the early childhood setting and
around the home.
- Go for walks.
- Chalk pedestrian crossing inside and outdoors of the centre
and practise crossing roads safely.
- Discuss photos and make up scenarios that encourage children's
understanding of what to do in different situations.
- Have puppet shows that reinforce safety messages.
- Organise visits from Police, fire officers, and local people
involved in safety, for example, the Safety Officer from a factory
or Council.
- Discuss what is an emergency.
- Practice evacuation and fire drills.
- Learn phone numbers, addresses through songs and repetition.
- Set up dramatic play areas with seatbelts.
You will be able to think of more ideas for learning experiences
