Using Amazing ME

When to Use Amazing ME

Use Amazing ME when you identify a need for a programme that enhances children's self esteem, encourages sharing and how to get along with others, builds communication skills, and gives children strategies to resolve conflict peacefully and keeping themselves safe from physical, sexual and emotional harm.

How to Use Amazing ME

This programme has been designed to use in partnership with parents. Getting the support of parents is an essential part of the process. Amazing ME will be most effective when followed up in the home with children receiving consistent massages from trusted caregivers.

Children learn through repetition. Children would gain more from the Amazing ME tracks if they could see them more than once.

Group Approach

You have decided that a group of children would benefit from being involved in the Amazing ME programme and you have talked to the children's parents about Amazing ME. You could:

1. Over two weeks show the group of children the five Amazing ME tracks twice and provide learning experiences to back up the five tracks.

2. Over five weeks show the group of children the five Amazing ME tracks. Repeat showing one track per week and provide learning experiences to back up the track.

Individual Approach

In consultation with parents / caregivers / whanau you may decide one child may benefit being involved in the Amazing ME Programme.

1. Show the child the track or tracks you think are most appropriate and provide learning experiences to back up the Track or Tracks.

2. Give the child's parents or caregivers the tracks to show the child at home. Provide the parents or caregivers with the support information (you will find this in the Parent Workbook section) and provide learning experiences to back up the Tracks.

3. Give the child's parents or caregivers the track or tracks you and the parents or caregivers think are most appropriate. Provide the parents or caregivers with the support information (you will find this in the Parent Workbook section) and provide learning experiences to back up the Tracks.
